Community Accounting Network North Yorkshire (CANNY)

RVA is one of the organisations working on the CANNY project which was launched in September 2009.  CANNY provides FREE community accounting services for Ryedale based groups for one day per week.

The project is funded by the BIG Lottery Fund, and will provide FREE financial advice and support and training.  The project is initially aimed at smaller voluntary and community groups (typically with an income of under £100,000 per year).

Services will include free telephone, e-mail help and advice, surgery sessions, information resources and one-to-one training sessions, tailored to meet the needs of individuals or groups. 

These core services will be backed up by a regular programme of group training sessions, covering a wide range of finance subjects including; basic book-keeping, setting up and keeping financial records, internal financial controls and preparing budgets, through to producing management accounts and full cost recovery.

The overall aim of the project is to improve knowledge and understanding of financial management in voluntary and community organisations to help the voluntary and community sector to become more sustainable.
