The University Foundation Award in Working With Young People

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

The course is aimed at adults over 18 who work with young people in a wide range of settings. For example; voluntary work, after school activities, sport and youth clubs. The programme will develop and improve the skills, values and knowledge necessary for providing high quality services that meet the needs of young people.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

The University Foundation Award (UFA) is a modular course made up of 6 modules each worth 10 credits. You can complete the whole course of study, or select any of the modules which may be of particular interest to you.

WHEN & WHERE WILL I STUDY?

The programme will be delivered from November 2004 to December 2005, at Ryedale Voluntary Action, Ryedale Community House, Wentworth Street, Malton YO17 7BN.

HOW MUCH WILL THE COURSE COST?

This course is FREE! The only cost considerations you will have to think about are travel to and from the venue, childcare if required, and some materials. (There is a small course allowance to cover some course materials.)

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

There are no specific entry requirements for the course. We need you to be motivated and have experience in youth and/or community work.

WHAT OTHER OPTIONS WILL THIS PROGRAMME GIVE ME?

Students will have access to electronic resources of the University of Hull. This course may lead to further study, but mainly we hope to raise the status of community and youth work, increase workers’ opportunities for development, as well as contributing to better practice with communities and young people in the region.
