The Volunteer Centre is based in Ryedale Community House, and is open two days a week, normally on a Thursday and Friday.
We have been providing a valued and successful service in Ryedale for many years. We work with many organisations who offer high quality opportunities for volunteers, covering many different work areas doing a huge range of different tasks and place over 50 volunteers successfully per year.
Volunteer Centre Ryedale is actively committed to the principle of equal opportunities and supports and encourages everyone to volunteer.
We'll always offer support and advice on how to make your opportunities more accessible. We will not advertise any opportunity we believe to be discriminatory. Volunteers are more likely to choose to volunteer with an organisation if they follow good practice in volunteer management - see us for more information about good volunteer management practice for your organisation.

-
Screen volunteers according to your recruitment policy. We do not take references or do disclosures (CRB checks), we leave that to you. We can advise on interviewing, risk assessment and selecting and screening volunteers.
-
Share our commitment to increasing diversity and challenging any sort of discrimination or barriers that may stop people getting involved.
-
Make sure you meet your legal responsibilities, for example your insurance for volunteers and health and safety requirements.
You do not have to take on the volunteer we refer to you. If they are not suited to the opportunity please refer them back to us so we can make sure they still get to volunteer.
As members of YAHVCON (Yorkshire and Humber Volunteer Centre Network) we work together with all volunteer centres to improve our standards and provide a single "volunteering voice".
