About Us
RVA is a registered charity (charity number 1061069) and company limited by guarantee (company number 3286600) based in Ryedale Community House in Malton. We were established in the late 1980’s and registered as a charity in March 1997.
We are the local infrastructure organisation for Ryedale in that we provide support to those voluntary and community groups which deliver services to individuals within the Ryedale area.

Our strategic aims are:

To support the growth, capacity & quality of voluntary organisations and community groups enabling the sector locally to improve service provision to meet identified needs.

To enable voluntary and community groups to gain greater access to information, practical support services, funding and facilities.

To lead, facilitate and support partnership working between local voluntary & community groups and between the voluntary, public and private sectors and to enable diverse views to be represented to external bodies.

To promote volunteering, aim to increase the number and diversity of volunteers, and to enable all people in Ryedale to access meaningful, volunteering opportunities.

Governance
The membership of Ryedale Voluntary Action is made up of voluntary and community groups whose nominated representatives can vote at Annual General Meetings.
Ryedale Voluntary Action is managed by its Board of Trustees, who are also the directors of the company. Trustees are appointed by and from the members’ representatives at the Annual General Meeting.
The Board of Trustees has the power to co-opt up to six persons who as individuals have specialist skills and/or knowledge which are beneficial to the organisation.
The Board of Trustees meets six times a year and has sub committees covering personnel issues and financial issues. A Chief Officer, who is also the Company Secretary, is appointed by the Board to manage the day-to-day operations of the Charity and oversee the work of the staff team.
RVA is a member of: North Yorkshire Forum for Voluntary Organisations (NYFVO), National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) and National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO).
RVA has achieved the NAVCA Quality Award and PQASSO level 1.
