Why Join as a Member?
In joining RVA you will receive:

newsletters a year– containing news, funding advice, training information, useful services.

Regular funding e-newsletter.

Regular e-bulletins on topics of interest.

An invitation to the RVA
VCS Forum. Forums are held at least 4 times a year, and always have a guest speaker and community showcase item on the agenda.

An opportunity to contribute to relevant consultations.
As a member of RVA, we will:

ensure that we represent your views and interests to statutory organisations and partnerships.

encourage partnership working.

lobby organisations on your behalf.

Where appropriate, identify gaps in local service provision and seek solutions to fill those gaps.
RVA welcomes a wide membership base as this demonstrates an active voluntary sector and enables a strong voice for the sector at Partnership Meetings.
Our governing documents allow us to have members and these members have a right to vote at our Annual General Meeting and can nominate a representative to sit on our Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees oversees our work and is the accountable body for what we do.
Our membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March and our current annual membership fees are as follows:
Groups with paid employees £10
Groups with no paid employees £5
Individuals £5

Membership Criteria
RVA supports the principle of equal opportunities in its employment practice, service delivery and through its role as advocate for the voluntary sector.
RVA is committed to providing services for everyone, regardless of age, colour, race, disability, religious belief, HIV status, marital status or sexual orientation.
RVA expects that all member groups will be actively committed to the improvement of equal opportunities.
Membership is open to any local voluntary group which complies with the aims and objectives of RVA
An organisation applying for membership should be able to demonstrate that:

It is a voluntary organisation.

Its aims and objectives are broadly charitable to the exclusion of private gain.

It is conducted for the benefit of the public and is active in the community.

Its activities benefit people in or around Ryedale.
-
It is a non political organisation.
-
If linked to a particular religious group, church or faith community, its community activities are not primarily concerned with the propagation of a particular religion or faith.
The Board of Trustees may at its discretion admit to membership individual persons, who support the aims and objectives of RVA, and will not use the services of RVA for pecuniary advantage, private gain, to discriminate, or for political reasons.
